Flights to and from Liberia and Alcoholic beverages.
Costa Rica at this time of year is warm - very warm! Since it is the dry season - there is virtually no chance of rain! Nights are comfortable but you will not even need a sweater or cover up! Dress casually - women should bring comfortable clothes for yoga and fitness activities, bathing suits, light, flowing dresses for evening or light weight shorts. Do not bring heels or super fancy purses, etc., unless you’re really feeling like dressing up, as the vibe is quite low-key and chill. Men will be most comfortable in shorts, flip flops and a t-shirt.
The international airport in Liberia, Costa Rica is your best option. The resort is roughly a 2.5 hour drive from the airport. You will notify the Bodhi Tree about your landing details and they will coordinate a shuttle with other people who may be landing around the same time. A backup option is San Jose – but this is a 5 hour drive to Nosara which you will need to arrange.
No problem. Once you book your retreat we can make arrangements for shared accommodation.
Yes! Children are encouraged.
The retreat will be 7 days, from Saturday to Saturday with time in-between sessions to explore and chill.
Our retreats help you to tap into the potential of your body, mind and spirit, so a fair level of physical fitness is recommended. No yoga knowledge is required but it is expected that you may be able to participate in moderate physical activities.
All of the food at the Bodhi Tree is made from scratch and sourced from local producers. We can absolutely accommodate all dietary needs, including gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, paleo, etc.
No. Unfortunately the retreat is available only to those who are staying at the Bodhi Tree. We will not be able to accommodate those who do not wish to stay at the resort.
You may bring your phone and there is both cellular and data service, as well as high-speed wifi throughout the Bodhi Tree and all of Nosara. You may, however, choose to use the retreat as an opportunity to unplug.
Alcohol is not included in the cost of the retreat. We recommend that you use the retreat as an opportunity to tap into the abundance of natural highs available through the practices and the location. If you do feel like indulging in some alcoholic cocktails they are available at the Bodhi Tree as well as at the dinner out in town.
Once final payment has been received the tickets are non-refundable but may be transferred to another Alive and Awake Retreat if an emergency prevents you from attending. You are able to transfer your ticket to someone else, however all transfer requests must be made less than 8 weeks before the event. Note that tickets are not for resale.

You’ll be able to make international calls from Bodhi Tree for around $1 a minute should you need to connect back home. Or we have an internet phone service that is free.

The exchange rate is approximately 500 colones to the dollar. The easy way to estimate the cost in colones is to use 500 to $1. So a 1,000 colone bill is worth about $2. A 10,000 colone bill is worth about $20. U S dollars are king in Costa Rica and will be accepted everywhere. In stores you should be able to get a discount when paying with dollars. 20s are preferred and most stores will not take 100s. You will be able to use your credit card, (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), in most of the restaurants and some stores. Travelers Checks are a big pain to cash, don't bring them. There are ATMs in Nosara should you need that.

There is a good medical clinic in Nosara with doctors that speak English.

Everywhere you go you'll get by fine with English. BUT, it’s a lot of fun to give Spanish a try and the locals will enjoy helping you.

The water in Costa Rica is good, No need to worry about salads or vegetables. We’ll have bottled water available at Bodhi Tree.

Most restaurants and hotels include a 10% service charge on the bill. Additional Tipping is not expected but appreciated if you have been treated well. Tipping is up to you. All gratuities for the Bodhi Tree rooms and meals, as well as the 3 group dinners in the community have been covered.

We do not have phones or TV’s in the rooms.

A word about theft: do not leave your valuables in cars or vans, unattended backpacks on the beach, or out of your control. When out at the beach or at a restaurant or bar, leave any unnecessary items in your rooms, and use the safe boxes provided for your valuables.
